Benefits of Membership

Fuel and oil discounts
We've negotiated a special discount for members for diesel, petrol and lube oil through Caltex Oil. Not only is this deal available for marine fuel, you can use it for your car too.

We have in place an arrangement with Transdiesel to promote their products to our members. As a result of this they will offer to our members special rates and pay a commission to MTA on some of their products.

TransDiesel is the authorized New Zealand distributor for a wide range of
products including Detroit Diesel, MTU, Perkins, VM Motori, Lombardini and
Kohler engines, Allison transmissions, Sakura Filtration, Donaldson filtration,
air intake and exhaust products.

TransDiesel is the exclusive distributor nationwide for and Agip Oils and Lubricants. These products will be offered at 10% discount from normal trade price.

Transdiesel are a traditional supporter of the MTA and always attend the annual conference demonstrating this support by sponsoring the Annual North V South competition. As they support us we urge you to support them. Quote your membership number to gain this benefit.

We are also talking to Gull Petroleum who have marine outlets in Auckland, Tauranga and Whangamata.

Mobile phones, landlines and toll plans
Thanks to Vodafone we can offer MTA members special rates for mobile phone calls, hardware, land lines and toll calls. These corporate rates are competitive and attractive

Advertising
Associate members NZ Professional Skipper and  NZ Fishing News, offer discounted advertising. Full MTA members recieve a complimentary copy of NZ Professional Skipper.

Other
We have arrangements with Crystal Electronics Ltd for the discounted supply of Automated Information System (AIS) Transponders coupled with the Watchmate visual display unit. These units are required by the Auckland Harbour Master for use in restricted visibility and this is a trend which appears to be rolling out throughout all territorial authourity's up and down the country.

Valuable trade discounts include engines, paint, ropes, batteries, marine electronics, Visa/Mastercard merchant fees, printing, safety gear,  marine supplies and hotel rooms.

We're looking at plenty more!

Communications
MTA members receive Skipper Magazine bimonthly, updating them on marine issues, industry news, regulations,  and a host of other things. We also put together a monthly email newsletter of topical issues.

Seminars and Conference
We hold an annual conference at various locations around the country. This is usually in September. We run regular Ferry Operator Seminars in conjunction with Maritime NZ "Target B" safety forum. This is a very popular event as it puts members in touch with our regulators giving you valuable information on issues that have a profound effect on the way you conduct your business. We also discuss such issues as employment, marketing and tax.

Information and assistance from Advicewise
Every trade Association provides it's members with information and assistance on a huge range of topics - regulatory problems, employment issues, engineering matters, OSH, employment contracts and legal opinions relevant to marine operators. Ask us and we'll put you in touch with Advicewise who will provide you with information on any of these matters at no charge to you. This service comes free with your membership

Send us your completed Application form and we'll do the rest.
